Until you understand that all lives can't matter until black lives matter, there is is still work to do. During this time we are taking a pause to show support for the fight for equality in America.
The evolution of the world has changed things… It’s changed me. The lessons, the trials and tribulations, all the failures have made this company stronger. And now, in the wake of the world shutting down and the current situation we are all going through, it is time. Time for the return, at the same time the beginning.

The Interview: Donny Goines

PureStyle Magazine has been lucky enough to interview Donny Goines, with his album Success Served Cold this Friday November 11, 2011. Donny had the album release party at SOB’s in lower Manhattan that could also be viewed online at livestreams.com. Donny came out with a backpack, black cap and Jeans with a classic NYC Hip-Hop look.

He gave performances on some of the songs on the upcoming album Successes Served Cold. One of the best parts was Donny he was excited about the album and being there. The audience was feeling Donny’s music and enjoying the time with Donny. He also made a formal iTunes announcement for his independent label.

In 2012 we look forward to even more good news from Donny, and all of the Cold Success he will be serving. The first single of the album is absolute hit with Bun B, XV and Pill and the samples given at the release party showed more of the same.

Donny it is the middle of the NFL season, as an icebreaker. Who is your team and who do you realistically have winning it all this season?

Donny Goines: I’m not into sports and I’m REALLY not into watching men in tights running around hahaha. Next question.

Now for a little business you have a hot single hot right now with Champions feat. Bun B., XV and Pill. How do you feel about the response you have gotten, and how was it working with some of hip hops most talented MCs?

Donny Goines: I felt the response was amazing, but I’m just getting warmed up with that one. Expect many more things related to that single. As far as working with MC’s such as Bun B, XV, Pill & Killer Mike (listen to the album) it’s an honor and I’m very excited to release this new album.

With the album Success Served Cold coming out on the 11TH of this month, have you decided on the second single? Also what is your favorite song on the album?

Donny Goines: No second single as far as I’m concerned. There’s a rhyme and reason to everything I do, and my advice to anyone who may be reading this is this; listen to the album in it’s entirety. It will all make complete sense when you do.

Maki produced Champion’s anthem and I believe you worked with Just Blaze as well on the Success Served Cold. Out of all the producers that you worked with, who brought out the best in Donny, or challenged you to give a little more on a track?

Donny Goines: Maki is the Executive Producer alongside Ariel Borujow. Maki, hands down is one of the greatest producers I’ve ever meet and he will continue on to do amazing things within music. He pushed me to create the greatest album I’ve made thus far and he is the epitome of excellence when it comes to production.

I know you have something going on with Roc a Wear. How excited are you to be involved with Roc a Wear and have a connection with your name and the Roc?

Donny Goines: My album is officially sponsored by Rocawear and Artful Dodger (both companies owned by Jay Z) so to be affiliated with that legacy is amazing in it’s own right. I just am happy to work with those guys because they are really creative, innovative and intelligent as a business. Plus they are all very cool so for me it’s a no brainer.

Right now it seems like the hot thing to do is a co-album, if you could work with anyone in all of music on a joint project who would it be and why?

Donny Goines: Lady Gaga. It would be the most amazing album in the entire world. Hands down. She is my favorite artist right now.

While on the subject of other peoples music besides your album what is hot in the iPod right now; what is your favorite album of all time? Finally who would you want to see Live?

Donny Goines: I don’t own an iPod, nor do I listen to much music (including my own). I read more books then I listen to albums. I love The Beatles, Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Vampire Weekend, etc. My vibe is somewhere else right now. As far as the greatest album of all time, Life after Death. No doubt. Blueprint would be a close second. I would love to see the Red hot Chili Peppers live. They are my favorite band of all time.

Donny for you who was the most important person in your life growing up? Do you think that your life would be different without them in your life?

Donny Goines: Everyone was important in my life for many different reasons. Hard to narrow it down. To be honest, many people have played very significant roles in my life, for better or worst and they all contributed to the creation of the person you see before you.

Donny this it has been great chatting with you, before we end the interview. What is 2012 to Donny, tours, projects, personal life anything that has you excited to start the New Year?

Donny Goines: Taking over the world.
