Until you understand that all lives can't matter until black lives matter, there is is still work to do. During this time we are taking a pause to show support for the fight for equality in America.
The evolution of the world has changed things… It’s changed me. The lessons, the trials and tribulations, all the failures have made this company stronger. And now, in the wake of the world shutting down and the current situation we are all going through, it is time. Time for the return, at the same time the beginning.

The Interview: Tina Dawn

Tina Dawn is an Independent artist that I’ve recently found, and must say recommend highly…

You have a soulful/rock feel yet somewhat pop type anthem music… How would you categorize yourself?

Tina Dawn: Although my influences range from heavy rock to soul and r&B, I definitely would categorize myself in the pop/rock genre. The soulful/rock part comes from the fact that I write all my own music. It’s easier to feel and to get across what you’re feeling if you can relate 100% to what you are singing about.

Do you pursue music as a passion or for fame?

Tina Dawn: Ever since I was little I have loved to sing. It’s what I am most passionate about. I can’t imagine going through a day with out singing. If you ask anyone that knows me, they will tell you that I always have music on, or am always creating new music in my head. I have even been known to sing in my sleep on occasion…mostly just after studying really hard for my music exams at school 😉

Do you think that music artists change when they sign with a major label? Do you think they become more mainstream and less of who they are?

Tina Dawn: I don’t necessarily think that it’s the label that changes an artist. i think because the major labels have more power to put an artist in the public spotlight, there is a lot more pressure to have a polished product. Sometimes people take that polished sound the wrong way.

Do you tour around or just stay in the Boston/NY area playing shows?

Tina Dawn: I would love the chance to do a large-scale tour someday. Right now I am mostly in the Boston area. I hope to expand my territory in the near future.

People can go to your MySpace page and see your influences in music… Can you take some time to name a few and why?

Tina Dawn: As a singer I have always loved Faith Hill and Kelly Clarkson. As a writer I look up to people like Rob Thomas and Dianne Warren. as a performer I love My Chemical Romance because they put everything they have into their live shows.

Do you think music is in a good place right now or do you feel it’s in decline?

Tina Dawn: There is always going to be good and bad music out there. It’s a matter of exploring and finding new music that you like.

How do you spend your time when you aren’t singing or performing music?

Tina Dawn: I spend most of my free time listening to music and picking it apart to see what makes it work. When I’m not listening to music, I am usually writing music or working in the studio.

Do you have any interests outside of music? Like politics or social events?

Tina Dawn: Politics I don’t really spend much time on unless it’s environmental. As for social events, I have always wanted to go to the Grammy’s wink wink.

What are some of your favorite movies? Why?

Tina Dawn: Notting Hill because it’s sweet and honest and shows that there is always hope.

Memoirs of a Geisha because of how beautiful it is.

The Little Mermaid because it reminds me of when I was little and why I started singing in the first place.

And this last one is a silly one I ask everyone… Who is your celebrity crush growing up? or still is?

Tina Dawn: Well, i don’t really have one to be honest, but if i had to pick a character on TV to have a crush on, i would say Henry, the boy from accounting, in “Ugly Betty.” He’s just so innocent and sort of dorky, but still sweet and funny. It’s a good combination.

Thanks for taking the time Tina…
